All of our rooms joined together to go exploring nature down at the River Allan. It was described as "the best walk ever!"
They explored the Autumn leaves, the dirt and sand. Using their senses they explored local sounds, smells and sights with particular enjoyment in the sounds of the plopping stones and skimming stones in the water and the crunching of leaves. They also played some parachute and frisbee games as a group, offering a lovely opportunity to mix with children of different ages. The children have been out exploring the car park since the new plants were planted. They have been:
Measuring themselves against the bamboo Listening to the noise the bamboo makes in the wind Smelling the plants "It smells like chocolate!" Measuring their hands against the leaves Watering them daily The 3-5 room have taken on the responsibility of creating a watering rota and this will be on display for the children. This task will be filtered in to the responsibilities they already have allocated and a display in the room will show this for you. The children have been interested in the names of the plants and they plan on investigating this further. Vialii Garden Design So proud of these girls. Brooklyn, Kerry, Jen, Joanne, Katelinn and Taylor took up a challenge not knowing what was ahead of them. They went to classes they never thought about before and they worked hard at them. They faced and overcame fears and personal challenges throughout the course today. We had laughs, encouragement, pain, water, mud, lots of mud! You did it girls. Absolutely fantastic! Be proud! 💜💜💜💜💜💜 - Lorna Jack Some of our 2-5 year old children went exploring in the local woodland along the Darn Walk yesterday. They spotted the railway line with the new bridge ready in preparation for the new electric line, explored nature through their senses and practised walking on different terrain. Who needs toys? Just a variety of everyday objects with a big mix of imagination can create something worth of an adventure!
We celebrated the past 5 years of hard work and effort with our families. Now we are ready to move on to the next stage of our life and continue on our journey of learning in primary school. We leave Lecropt Nursery having grown to be confident, successful and creative thinkers who are keen to learn with high aspirations.
To end our block of sessions we celebrated with a sports day and invited our families along to watch us in action. We shared our skills that we have been practising so hard on and our Mummies and Daddies even joined in on the fun!
To continue with our theme of giving back to the local community the 3-5 room children paid a visit to our local care home, Park House, to perform some Christmas carols. They all practiced very hard at nursery and at home and this has not only encouraged them to develop their communication skills through patterns of speech, rhythm and rhyme but has given them a boost in confidence and self-esteem performing in front of an audience. After they had performed they presented them with a canvas that some of the children had created of their own portraits. This brought great joy to the residents and gave them pleasure in listening to the children and chatting to them. "This is what Christmas is all about, children, joy and happiness." Their canvas has taken pride of place in their sitting room. |
